Terms of Use
Last updated: May 25, 2026
By using dadfinance.ca, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain English and exist to set sensible expectations.
What this site is
Dad Finance is a free educational website for Canadian DIY investors. It hosts backtest tools, simulations, written guides, and links to outside resources. It is not a brokerage, not a registered investment advisor, and not a substitute for one.
Free to use, no warranty
You may use this site and its tools at no cost. In exchange, the site is provided "as-is" and "as-available" with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Markets change. Code can have bugs. Data sources can be wrong. Past results don't predict future ones. Use your own judgment.
Not financial advice
Everything published here is educational. Nothing is personalized to your situation. For real investment decisions, consult a registered Canadian investment advisor. See the full Disclaimer for details.
Your responsibilities
- You will not use this site for any unlawful purpose
- You will not attempt to attack, overload, scrape at abusive rates, or otherwise damage the site or its infrastructure
- You will not reverse-engineer or redistribute the site's source code without permission (the code is the author's intellectual property unless otherwise marked)
- You take full responsibility for any investment decisions made after reading this site
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, Dad Finance and its author are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or its tools — including lost profits, lost data, or trading losses.
If a court finds this limitation unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the author's total liability is capped at CAD $0 (since the site is provided free of charge).
Intellectual property
Original content on this site (text, charts, code, design) is copyright Dad Finance. Market data is sourced from public sources (e.g., Yahoo Finance) and remains the property of its original providers.
You may quote short passages with attribution and a link back. Bulk reproduction or commercial use requires written permission — request it via the contact form.
External links and third-party content
This site links to third-party websites and uses third-party services (Google Analytics, Render, CDN-hosted libraries). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of those third parties.
Affiliate disclosure
Some outbound links may be affiliate links, meaning the author may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence content. Affiliate links are clearly disclosed when present. See the Disclaimer for more.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
Termination
We may suspend or remove access to the site or any feature at any time without notice. You may stop using the site at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
