Dad Finance is for education and entertainment only. It is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Nothing on this site should be construed as a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. Use the tools to learn, not to decide.
Educational purpose
All content on dadfinance.ca — including the strategy trackers, backtests, simulations, blog posts, and any future tools — is published for general educational and informational purposes. The author is not a registered investment advisor, financial planner, or accountant. Reading this site does not create an advisor-client relationship.
Not financial advice
Backtests show what would have happened historically using specific input assumptions. They do not predict future returns. Monte Carlo projections are simulations based on past data; they do not forecast what will happen. Stress tests show how a strategy responded to specific past crises; they do not guarantee how it will respond to future crises.
Every result on this site is sensitive to the inputs you choose (start date, growth target, allocation, commission, etc.). Different inputs produce different results. Do not treat any single number as a recommendation.
Leverage and risk
Several strategies discussed on this site involve leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs) such as TQQQ, which is a 3× daily-leveraged product. Leveraged ETFs:
- Can lose 90% or more of their value in a severe or prolonged market downturn;
- Are subject to daily compounding decay that can erode returns in choppy markets;
- Are not suitable for buy-and-hold investors who cannot tolerate large drawdowns;
- May be unsuitable for many investors, including those approaching or in retirement.
You should only invest capital you can afford to lose entirely.
Past performance
Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Markets change. Strategies that worked historically may stop working. The specific historical period covered by any backtest on this site may not be representative of future market conditions.
No personalized advice
The author does not know your financial situation, risk tolerance, investment horizon, tax situation, or goals. Nothing on this site is personalized to you. Before making any investment decision, consult a registered Canadian investment advisor, accountant, or other appropriate professional.
Affiliate disclosure

Affiliate relationships do not influence which products or strategies are discussed. When a link is an affiliate link, it will be clearly disclosed on the relevant page.
Accuracy and errors
Every effort is made to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date, but no warranty is given. Market data is fetched from public sources (Yahoo Finance) and may contain errors or delays. The author makes no representation that the calculations, methodologies, or data on this site are free from errors. Use at your own risk.
